EasyPro Newsletter: Issue 5
Welcome to the fifth edition of the EasyPro quarterly newsletter!
It’s been a busy Summer for EasyPro, an EU project that will make Irish universities carbon neutral through an Energy Performance Contracting (EPC) facilitation service. In this newsletter, we will recap all the key activities that have taken place since late May 2025, including EasyPro’s exhibit at the EUSEW Energy Fair in Brussels, our second General Assembly meeting at Lawler Sustainability in Kilkenny, and much more.
EasyPro at EUSEW Energy Fair
In June, EasyPro presented at the European Sustainable Energy Week 2025 (EUSEW) in Brussels, the biggest event dedicated to energy efficiency and renewables. The event was organised by CINEA and was attended by policymakers, researchers, industry leaders, civil society actors, technical experts, academics and innovators, who met to exchange ideas on policies and best practices under the overarching theme of ‘Powering a fair and competitive green transition’.

EasyPro took part in the EUSEW Energy Fair and featured at a joint exhibition stand alongside 10 other EU energy projects: RESPECT Recycling, ESIL, TIGON, Booster, ECO2 Fuel, SSTAR Project, CST4ALL, H-HOPE, eFORT Project, HYScale, and NHAV – North Adriatic Hydrogen Valley.

At the fair, EasyPro project coordinator Dr Luciano De Tomassi pitched our innovative Energy Performance Contracting (EPC) facilitation service to stakeholders, while our EU Project Manager Dr Sean Travers engaged with fellow LIFE Programme and EU-funded projects on this topic. These exchanges enabled knowledge sharing and the exploration of potential partnerships.
Our second General Assembly meeting
In July, the EasyPro consortium met at the headquarters of our project partner Lawler Sustainability in Kilkenny for the second EasyPro General Assembly meeting. The aim of the meeting was for the EasyPro project partners to share updates on their respective work packages and plan the next steps of the project.

The morning session featured presentations from each project partner organisation. Our coordinator Dr Luciano De Tomassi discussed EasyPro’s exploitation plan, as well as the new work package in the project that began in July, entitled ‘Financial Modelling of EasyPro Projects and Investor Relations’. This work package involves carrying out investor matchmaking between funds and projects, close financing agreements for the EasyPro project bundles, and developing a process flow chart to assist universities in assessing which type of funding option is most suited to their project.

In the afternoon, the consortium held a workshop on EPC projects’ implementation at Irish universities. This was a Q&A session with stakeholders including ESCOs, Consultants, Finance Providers and Associations. The session aimed to create an additional project pipeline for EasyPro, as well as educating universities and other public bodies on best practices related to project financing and deployment.
EasyPro’s first webinar
In May, EasyPro delivered its first webinar to two Irish universities: Munster Technological University and University of Galway.
The webinar was entitled ‘Introduction to Energy Performance Contracting & the Structure of an Energy Performance Contract for the Irish Universities’. Among the topics explored included the differences between Energy Performance Contracting (EPC) and the traditional, design-bid-build model, EasyPro’s role of an EPC Facilitator and the tendering process for EPC procurement. Watch the webinar here.
What we’re reading
Good news! The Minister for Climate, Energy and Environment, Darragh O’Brien, recently issued a letter to public sector CEOs concerning their obligation to promote and ensure the use of Energy Performance Contracting (EPCs) where technically and economically feasible.
Keep an eye out for this month’s blogpost, which will outline the letter, what it says about EPCs and its relevance to EasyPro.

Yet ANOTHER social media milestone
EasyPro now has over 300 LinkedIn followers! We would like to thank you all yet again, dear readers, for your continued interest in, engagement with and support of our project. We endeavour to provide you with all the latest EasyPro updates and news. Look out for a second instalment of our popular social media campaign, ‘5 Things you may not know about EasyPro’, plus a brand new campaign called ‘Partner Spotlight’, where you’ll hear directly from each partner in the EasyPro consortium.

Upcoming events
EasyPro will be present at the Decarbonising Dublin Summit on 21st October 2025. The Summit has been organised by our project partner, Codema – Dublin’s Energy Agency. It will bring together stakeholders and communities within Dublin’s climate migration sector to focus on one goal: how Dublin can meet its climate and energy targets in a fair, inclusive and ambitious way.

We look forward to discussing challenges and solutions to reduce Dublin’s emissions. Click here for more information on the Decarbonising Dublin Summit and to register for this exciting event.
