EasyPro Newsletter: Issue 4

Welcome to the fourth edition of the EasyPro quarterly newsletter!

It’s been a productive three months for EasyPro, an EU project that will make Irish universities carbon neutral through an Energy Performance Contracting (EPC) facilitation service. In this newsletter, we will recap all the key activities that have taken place since March 2025, including EasyPro’s presentation at the SEAI Energy Show, our new cluster, our upcoming presentation at the EUSEW Energy Fair in Brussels, and much more.

EasyPro at the SEAI Energy Show

On 26th and 27th March, EasyPro partners Damien Whelan and Daniel Ring from Lawler Sustainability presented the EasyPro project at the Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland (SEAI) Energy Show in the Royal Dublin Society (RDS).

The SEAI Energy Show is Ireland’s leading business energy event and comprises an exhibition hall of all the best companies working in the environment sector currently. The two-day event was attended by over 3,000 energy supply chain professionals. Darragh O’Brien, the Minister for Climate, Environment and Energy, launched the show.

Decarbonisation was the key theme of the conference across all sectors. There were talks and seminars from experts in the field including Energy Service Companies (ESCOs), as well as live demonstrations of best practice technologies. The EasyPro stand was joined by finance companies focused on funding for energy projects like EasyPro, and Damien and Daniel were approached by attendees with questions on decarbonisation and Energy Efficiency solutions. The event provided EasyPro with an opportunity for insightful discussions and networking with other industry leaders, energy consultants, members of the public and government officials.

EasyPro joins ENTRACK’s LIFE Programme Cluster

EasyPro has joined the LIFE Programme Cluster led by the ENTRACK project. This cluster focuses on social-energy policies and brings together diverse skills and expertise from LIFE projects.

What we’re reading

We are reading our consortium’s two latest blogposts. The first, by EasyPro coordinator Dr Luciano De Tommasi, examines easy Energy Performance Contracting for Irish universities. The second, by EasyPro project partner Damien Whelan, outlines Lawler Sustainability’s design of the EasyPro solution.

On 15th April, the third statutory annual update to Ireland’s Climate Action Plan was released. The Plan outlines the actions that will lead Ireland to meeting its national climate objective of transitioning to a climate resilient, biodiversity rich, environmentally sustainable and climate neutral economy by 2050. Read the plan here.

What we’re reading

On 22nd April, EasyPro celebrated Earth Day 2025, an annual event that centres on supporting environmental protection. For EasyPro, it gave us the opportunity to reflect upon and celebrate our efforts to make Irish universities carbon neutral and contribute to Ireland’s Climate Action goals.
