EasyPro’s pilots begin

18th September 2026

As a new term begins, EasyPro’s EPC Energy Performance Contracting (EPC) model has begun in two of our pilot universities: University College Cork (UCC) and Technological University Dublin (TUD).

EasyPro is assisting with district heating and solar PV at UCC, in addition to an EPC project at UCC’s Mardyke Arena. TUD has agreed to progress the EPC model as a pilot for its Tallaght Campus. For TUD, the proposal was presented to the Campus Management Committee of TUD’s University Directorate, and it was considered a credible way of delivering carbon reduction.

EasyPro’s tailored EPC facilitation service will support the pilot universities throughout their EPC journey. Now that the Estates and project bundles have been identified, the next steps for EasyPro is to assist the universities in selecting Energy Service Companies (ESCOs) to implement the selected energy efficiency building upgrades. The combination of energy efficiency building refurbishments in each site are installed with the purpose of reducing carbon emission and saving money for the universities. Indeed, the ESCOs EasyPro will assist in selecting for our pilot universities will guarantee a certain level of energy savings for the universities, and the get ESCOs will get paid based on the amount of energy saved over time.

We will also meet with the project’s stakeholder group, who will review the complete draft versions of the EasyPro templates that will be recommended for the procurement of the EPC projects at UCC and TUD. These templates are:

  • Calculation Methodology Template and Guidelines: This template describes the calculation methodology template and provides guidance for ESCOs on preparing submissions for tenders facilitated by EasyPro.
  • Templates for Low-Carbon EPC and ESC: This presents the proposed templates for Energy Performance Contracting (EPC) and Energy Supply Contracting (ESC) to be used in tenders facilitated by EasyPro.
  • Guidelines for the IPMVP Protocol: This template provides guidance for ESCOs on applying the IPMVP protocol within the Measurement and Verification (M&V) process.
  • Standardised Risk Assessment Protocols: This template presents an analysis of risks associated with EPC projects, recommended mitigation measures, and the EasyPro risk assessment protocol proposed for use in tenders facilitated by the project.

Ultimately, this approach will help our pilot universities meet their Climate Action Targets for 2030, for which the Irish Government has set a target for all public body sectors to improve energy efficiency by 50%.
