EasyPro Newsletter: Issue 8
Welcome to the eighth edition of the EasyPro quarterly newsletter!
It’s been a busy Spring for EasyPro, an EU project that will make Irish universities carbon neutral through an Energy Performance Contracting (EPC) facilitation service. In this newsletter, we will recap all the key activities that have taken place since March 2026, including EasyPro’s latest conference presentation in Berlin, our new deliverables, and much more.
4th European Congress on renewable energy and sustainable development in Berlin
On 29th-30th June, EasyPro presented at the 4th European Congress on Renewable Energy and Sustainable Development in Berlin. EasyPro’s project coordinator, Dr Luciano De Tomassi from International Energy Research Center (IERC), was the keynote speaker at the conference, which gathered researchers, professors, scientists, entrepreneurs and practitioners from across the world to share advanced, ecofriendly energy solutions for competitive advantage and cost savings in the progressive industrial and business sectors. Luciano’s presentation was on the challenges and opportunities related to EPC in the Higher Education Sector in Ireland.
On Day Two, Luciano showcased EasyPro in a poster presentation, designed by EasyPro project partner Carr Communications. In this presentation, Luciano outlined the process of EasyPro’s EPC Facilitation Service step-by-step for Irish universities, whereby the project supports universities throughout their EPC journey.

U9 Group Conference
On 18th June, EasyPro presented at the U9 Group conference in Ireland. Daniel Ring from Lawler Sustainability gave a presentation entitled ‘EasyPro: EPC facilitation service for Irish universities’. In attendance were members from our pilot universities (Dublin City University) and Powertherm Solutions. The U9 Group comprises Energy and Carbon Managers from the nine main Irish universities, who gathered at this conference to discuss decarbonisation and energy-saving solutions. The group is supported by the Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland (SEAI).

SEAI Public Sector Energy Conference 2026
On 28th May, EasyPro attended the SEAI Public Sector Energy Conference 2026 in The Helix, Dublin City University. This plenary event was a leadership summit that brought together key policymakers and leaders from the public sector, including EPOs and energy managers within the third level education sector, local authorities, the commercial state bodies sector, and public bodies seeking cost effective solutions to decarbonise their building stock. The conference offered a platform for EasyPro to discuss and share knowledge on the latest developments and best practices in the energy sector. The main theme of the event was how to accelerate the reduction of reliance on fossil fuels and securing a more competitive, affordable future for Ireland.
New Deliverables
In June, EasyPro reached a significant milestone: we have completed the design of the EasyPro solution. This work includes: The design of the tendering process for the EasyPro energy efficiency projects; our template for calculating energy and cost savings resulting from energy efficiency projects; low-carbon contractual templates for Energy Performance Contracting (EPC) and Energy Supply Contracting (ESC); guidelines for bidders on the International Performance Measurement and Verification Protocol (IPMVP®); and the Risk Assessment protocol for EasyPro project portfolios.

Upcoming Events
On 22nd-23rd September, EasyPro will present at the 12th Annual Smart Energy Systems Conference in Denmark. This conference will present and discuss scientific findings and industrial experiences related to the subject of Smart Energy Systems based on renewable energy, 4th Generation District Heating Technologies and Systems (4GDH), electrification of heating and transportation sectors, electro fuels, and energy efficiency.
This conference has become the main venue for presentations on the development and implementation of smart energy systems to fulfil national and international objectives. EasyPro looks forward to presenting on the procurement of EPC at Irish Universities, specifically focusing on our template for standardising energy and cost savings calculations for proposed projects.
