EasyPro Newsletter: Issue 6
Welcome to the sixth edition of the EasyPro quarterly newsletter!
It’s been a productive Autumn for EasyPro, an EU project that will make Irish universities carbon neutral through an Energy Performance Contracting (EPC) facilitation service. In this newsletter, we will recap all the key activities that have taken place since early September 2025, including the Decarbonising Dublin Summit, CINEA’s and ELENA’s Technical Assistance Contractors Meeting, and much more.
EasyPro at the Decarbonising Dublin Summit
On 21st October, EasyPro was represented at the Decarbonising Dublin Summit, an annual event that unites communities and stakeholders to explore challenges and opportunities for Dublin to meet its climate and energy targets. The event was organised by EasyPro project partner Codema – Dublin’s Energy Agency. Leading experts delivered sessions on topics ranging from district heating and Ireland’s 2030 climate targets to fair solutions for a low-carbon future. Darragh O’Brien, Minister for Climate, Energy and the Environment, provided the ministerial message during the Summit introduction, while members of the Climate Change Advisory Council and the Irish District Energy Association contributed to panel discussions.

EasyPro had a wonderful day of networking, climate action conversations, and how to decarbonise Dublin in fair, inclusive and innovative ways. Read more about the event here.
Back to Brussels
On 25th September, EasyPro partners Dr Luciano De Tommasi and Joe Hayden went to Brussels for the Technical Assistance Contractors Meeting. This meeting was organised by CINEA and ELENA (European Local Energy Assistance), with representatives from DG Energy and DG MOVE also in attendance. The event gathered technical assistance projects across Europe, with each project presenting their initiatives followed by a group discussion. Projects also shared best practices, outlined methodologies and discussed the operational and reporting requirements for ongoing and upcoming LIFE projects.

Second webinar
On 3rd November, EasyPro coordinator Dr Luciano De Tomassi delivered our second webinar to Estates offices from Technological University Dublin and Maynooth University. The webinar was entitled Energy Peformance Contracting & Effective Tendering Procedures for the EPC procurement at Irish Universities. Among the topics explored included the structure of an EPC contract, the role of an EPC facilitator, the Pre-Qualification Questionnaire, and more.

What we’re reading
In October, EasyPro celebrated Climate Action Week, an Irish annual event coordinated by An Taisce on behalf of the Department of Climate, Energy and Environment. This week brings together schools, community groups, universities, businesses and public bodies to learn about climate change, share solutions and commit to reducing emissions. Upcoming events
2026 is a big year for EasyPro. We will begin the year with a General Assembly meeting, where the entire consortium will meet in person to discuss the project plans. These plans include the continuation of building energy assessments and preparation of the necessary technical documentation for the tendering process. We will also discuss advancing the development of our ESCO frameworks and financial modelling of the EasyPro projects, reviewing standard EPC contract templates for our pilot universities, and much more. Stay tuned!
Until next time
